James M. Mullen
In 1985 James M. Mullen entered the financial industry quite by accident. After completing his MBA at DePaul University, Jim bid on a job managing a Pension Plan at the CTA. From there he worked several years in the banking industry managing the trust department and became a registered investment advisor with Exemplar 2004. With Jim’s strong background in corporate pension and 401(k) plans he finds he has a knack for guiding small business owners through the complicated world of retirement and succession planning.
Jim takes a great amount of pride and satisfaction from seeing his senior clients have confidence that they will continue to enjoy their golden years without worrying about meeting their basic needs. With his amiable and agreeable demeanor, Jim will often find himself chatting with clients long after the financial discussion is over and it is in those conversations he discovers what their dreams for the future truly are.
In addition to helping people achieve their vision of financial security, Jim is equally passionate about his community. He is a dedicated supporter of Misericordia, a non profit organization that provides care and a network of services for people with developmental disabilities. A native Chicago Northsider, Jim now resides in Naperville with his wife Lucie and Gus the three legged wonderdog. Jim loves to spend a warm Saturday morning on the golf course followed by a delicious meal he cooks on the grill with a glass of wine and the company of his family and his close circle of friends he still maintains from his childhood days.
