James M. Mullen
Jim has worked in the financial industry since 1983 racking up an extensive and diverse background with experience that includes managing both municipal and corporate pension and 401(k) plans. He moved into the Banking industry as a Trust officer where he worked with both corporate and personal clients managing large investment portfolios. Jim enjoys helping individuals in a more personal setting which inspired him to decide to become a licensed investment advisor with Exemplar 2004. His strong background in corporate pension and 401(k) plans gives him a knack for guiding small business owners through the complicated world of retirement and succession planning.
Jim takes a great amount of pride and satisfaction using his skills as a retirement income specialist to help his senior clients have confidence that they will continue to enjoy their golden years without worrying about income. With his amiable and agreeable demeanor, Jim will often find himself chatting with clients long after the financial discussion is over and it is in those conversations he discovers what their dreams for the future truly are.
In addition to helping people achieve their vision of financial security, Jim is equally passionate about his community. He is a dedicated supporter of Misericordia, a non profit organization that provides care and a network of services for people with developmental disabilities. A native Chicago Northsider, Jim now resides in Naperville with his wife Lucie. Since the loss of their beloved dog Gus, they enjoy taking care of their nieces and nephews dogs while they are out of town. Jim loves to spend Saturday morning on the golf course followed by grilling something interesting for his very large extended family, neighbors or close circle of friends he still maintains from his childhood days.
